ARTIST STATEMENT
John Hundt’s collages and paintings commandeer and reposition a wide variety
of texts and imagery, creating unusual narratives of dark humor, absurdity and
insight. Current pieces are often composed of found materials from different
time periods, cultures and generations, blended into an unexpected order.
This process took root when, as a 4-year-old, John began drawing figures,
cutting them out, and storing them under his parents' bed. These early
creations were the seeds of what has evolved into a language that continues to
influence his work today.
